And We're Back!

It was a long hard week. After trying to settle in after being gone for the holiday, Michael ended up coming down with a fever on Tuesday. He continued having loss of appetite and fatigue during most of the week, but thankfully never progressed much beyond that. Then I worked 13.5 hours within a 24 hour period Wednesday through Thursday, and ended up coming down with one of those annoying colds where I am dealing with sneezing and a runny nose. Liam seemed to be sneezing a little as well, but overall was doing the best out of all of us by far! He has been sleeping much longer, which is a blessing. The only weird thing is he has a new thing where he tends to wake up almost every 45 minutes some nights when he first goes to bed. After I go to bed, then he'll sleep several hours straight though. I really cannot complain, despite the interruptions (Michael is helping go calm him back down some of those times too) I do prefer getting to sleep while he's sleeping his longest stretch!

With all that was going on, we really were just in survival mode. All non-essential stuff got behind, and now we are gradually getting back in the swing of things again.

Liam has had a week of discovery. He's very into all his new toys, and also loves grabbing everything. We now have to be very cautious what is around him, since he has a knack of reaching for dangerous things cords or the space heater. I noticed he is has the ability to lift his belly completely off the ground; all he has to do now is simply get up on his legs and we'll potentially have a little crawler on our hands. He sure wants to do this, as when I change his clothes or diaper, or lay him on his back in generally, he quickly turns on his stomach and starts kicking really hard and trying to lift. At this rate, I'm going to be doing a lot of chasing.

Other than that he can scoot backwards a little. Slowly, but surely! He also now likes to derail Gordon (one of Thomas the Tank's buddies), and even grabbed the train while in motion (like King Kong or Godzilla) and put it in his mouth earlier this week. He also has shown great interest in our faces, and likes to reach for our noses, mouth, and eyes. One of my continued favorite things is his laugh. I don't even have to tickle him to get the big smiles and laughs now!

Here are some pictures from the past week. First, him playing with his new baby gym. Both of the cats were curious about the new toy as well.

We also set up Liam's floor puzzle, so he has a padded area to roll around and practice his new moves. He enjoyed feeling the texture of it. Unfortunately, I think Chester did too and he tore up one small puzzle "tooth" on one of the sides. He got a some front claws trimmed for now (oddly he didn't even notice or fight), but will more likely just loose more of his room access from this point on.

What an awesome jungle gym! He has really learned to use it! Those adorable little grabby hands are so sweet! His smiles are precious and priceless! You can't help but break into a big smile when you look at his handsome little face! What a doll!
